oh yeah also forgot, the coffee to water ratio is pretty important, I think a good balance is 1g of grounds for every 15g (15ml) of water.

I just eyeball things and end up making something closer to 1:25, experimenting is also half the fun.
The other variables that determine coffee taste is how uniform and fine the grind quality is, terrible grinders like blade grinders are just little blenders, they will chop up beans and leave huge variations in grind size, literal powder mixed with huge boulders, it's terrible for taste and leads to both underextracted (weak) and overextracted (bitter) flavors in the coffee, buy a manual or electric burr grinder if you want uniform grind size, also make sure the grind size is appropriate for the kind of coffee you're making.

Basically, in order of importance, fresh (non stale) whole beans, a good burr grinder, the brewing method.
Also don't use warmers to keep coffee hot for hours, the flavors literally evaporate and you're left with bitter gross dirt water. my calorie deficit calculator thingy says I'm gonna escape bmi starting with 2 hell in march
